Locality / Distances

The EA ApartHotel Melantrich is located directly in the historical centre of Prague in the middle of Wenceslas Square. The square was measured in 1348 under the personal supervision of Emperor Charles IV. (1316 - 1378). It was formerly known as Koňský trh (Horse Market), for its periodic accommodation of horse markets and it was renamed Václavské náměstí (Wenceslas square) in 1848 on the proposal of Karel Havlíček Borovský. Thanks to its location between the Old and New Town and the total area of 45 000 m2 it is a place of social and commercial life, but also a place of many significant political events which have formed the Czech history. Directly from the balcony of the EA ApartHotel Melantrich, the prominent figures of the Velvet Revolution, headed by Václav Havel, spoke in 1989.

In close proximity to the hotel there are many important cultural centres such as the National Museum and State Opera. By walking through Wenceslas Square you will get to the sought-after street Na příkopě with many commercial centres of all known brands.

You can also reach Old Town Square on foot and admire the famous astronomical clock and other important monuments. Further you can walk through Karlova street all the way to Charles Bridge and to Lesser Town Square and then up to Prague Castle on Castle stairs.
